Amazon Prime Video Announces the Release Date of Mirzapur Season 2

 


After mercilessly teasing the die-hard fans of Mirzapur, an original Amazon Prime Video, on social media for the past one week, Prime Video has finally released the date of Mirzapur Season 2 on 24th August 2020 via a live YouTube event.

For those who are wondering what all the hoopla is about, Mirzapur is a crime based drama set in the badlands of Uttar Pradesh which received e. Pankaj Tripathi plays the role of the local don known as Kaleen Bhaiyya and how his criminal empire affects the lives of two brothers Guddu and Bablu Pandit when they join his empire.

Kaleen Bhaiyya’s son, his heir-apparent played by Dibyendu Das, doesn’t like these two brothers as he sees them as a threat to his authority. A rivalry develops between them when Guddu marries the girl Munna had a crush on.

The first season of Mirzapur released in 2018 kept the fans engrossed throughout the 8 episodes and ended on things on a high note and has kept the fans waiting for the release of season 2 of Mirzapur online.

Mirzapur Season 2 release date is 23rd October 2020, Friday.

The second season of the show was slated to be released in April but it got delayed due to the ongoing corona virus pandemic as the actors couldn’t get the dubbing done.

But amidst all the love and appreciation that this series has received, the trolls and haters on Twitter have used this as an opportunity to spread #BoycottMirzapur2 targeting the lead of the show Ali Faizal. He is being targeted for his tweets supporting the Anti-CAA protests and the haters are demanding to boycott the show now. This activity is similar to the hashtag that was trended when the trailer for Sadak 2 was released which received massive backlash for promoting nepotism in the Bollywood following the suicide of Sushant Singh Rajput.

The trending of hashtags supposedly has become a new norm now but will that really convert into low viewership of the movies and shows that is yet to be seen.
